Selection process gets underway to find next IMF managing director

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced it has begun the selection process to choose the next managing director before June 30, 2011.

The dean of the executive board of the IMF, Shakour Shaalan, said on Friday that the Fund's executive board had "adopted a procedure that allows the selection of the next managing director to take place in an open, merit-based and transparent manner. There was broad support in the executive board for this procedure".
