BoE rate-setters split four ways once more

Confirmation of a contraction of the British economy towards the end of last year failed to dissuade three members of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from continuing to vote for a rate hike, minutes released on Wednesday showed.

Spencer Dale, the Bank's chief economist, and Martin Weale, an external member of the Bank's MPC, both voted for a 25-basis point hike, while Andrew Sentance, another external member, voted for a 50bp rate hike, in a repeat of last month's vote
