Basel Committee sets out principles for deposit insurance

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision on Thursday launched a consultation for devising core principles for effective deposit insurance systems, which may be used in self-assessments or third party reviews including the IMF's Financial Sector Assessment Programmes.

The Basel Committee has set out 18 such principles, backed by a host of recommendations to help realise each principle.
