Thai Baht crisis - 'Losses were typing error'

THAILAND - A committee set up to investigate the 1997 defence of the baht by the Bank of Thailand has amended its report which could potentially clear central bank officials of actions leading to the loss of tens of billions of baht.

Varathep Ratanakorn, a deputy finance minister, said he was unsettled by the committee, headed by Thienchay Kiranandana, and its decision to change the wording in its report, substituting the word "losses" with "profits".

The investigative committee on 26 April agreed
