ECB plans statement on banking supervision - paper

The European Central Bank plans to issue an official warning to governments not to curb the role of central banks in banking supervision, a German newspaper reported on Mar 14, 2001.

Boersen Zeitung, citing European central banking sources, said the ECB governing council was likely to discuss a statement stressing the role of national central banks' supervisory role in the ECB's monetary policy mandate on Mar 15, 2001.
