Bank of Israel posts $1.6bn excess expense in 2000

The Bank of Israel said on Jan. 24 its expenses exceeded income by 6.7 billion shekels ($1.6 billion) in 2000 compared with an 8.7 billion shekel deficit in 1999. "This was the result of two main factors: The first, an excess of 3 billion shekels in interest expenses, compared with an excess of 5.2 billion in 1999," the central bank said in a statement.
