Philippines to hit inflation target

Philippine Central Bank Governor Rafael Buenaventura said on Friday that he expects inflation in March to come in below February's 6.7% year on year. Buenaventura, speaking to reporters on March 16, believes the inflation rate will peak at 6.9% this year.

The government has set an inflation target of 6% to 7%, which most economists believe will be comfortably achieved. Inflation in January rose to a 22-month high of 6.9%. "The trajectory is for lower inflationary pressure," he said, adding
