Trichet sees 0.3% growth in France in 4th quarter

FRANCE - Bank of France Governor Jean-Claude Trichet expects French economic growth at 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2001, following estimated 0.3% growth in the third quarter, according to an interview Monday in French daily newspaper La Croix.

"We forecast third quarter growth of 0.3%, and for the fourth quarter, a growth of 0.3% as well, which would result in average growth for 2001 of about 2%," Trichet said.

Trichet added that he doesn't expect Europe - including France - to go into recession
