Most high income central banks engage in securities lending

But liquidity stress-testing tends to be common practice across middle income institutions

Nearly four-fifths of high income central banks engage in securities lending, the Reserve Benchmarks 2024 find.

Fifteen (79.9%) of 19 respondents in high income jurisdictions say they engage in securities lending. Seven (36.8%) of 19 upper-middle income institutions say they use the scheme. In the lower-middle income group, the practice applies to half of 16 central banks.

Of the entire 55 central banks that provided data on the question, 54.5% report securities lending as a practice.
