Every central bank in the Currency Benchmarks 2022 reported incorporating at least one aid for visually impaired people in their banknotes. Eighty-seven per cent of 31 central banks reported using at least two features and nine (29%) said they used three.
Of the various types of visual aids employed, the most common were raised inks, used by 26 (83.9%) of 31 central banks. Twenty-two (71%) printed different denominations in varying sizes. Braille, a tactile alphabet, appears much less often –
