Median salary of central bank economists rises as inflation bites

Income remains less aligned with GDP per capita of participating countries

The median salary of central bank employees in economics departments increased over the past 12 months, data from the Economics Benchmarks 2023 shows.

Responses from 24 central banks indicate that the median salary of economists below director level is $33,297. This is 7.5% higher than the median pay of $30,809 reported in the 2022 benchmark.
