Brian Lang
Brian Lang served as head of currency at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand between 1991 and 2006. During this time, he was closely involved with the modernisation of New Zealand’s banknotes and coins.
Not only did he oversee the central bank’s move to polymer banknotes, but was also instrumental in the redesign of the 1992/93 series, which focused on ensuring all members of New Zealand’s society were represented on the country’s banknotes. The portraits chosen during this period still adorn New Zealand’s banknotes today.
