Bank of Thailand announces measures to ease household debt
Central bank extends easier repayment rules for card users and persistent debtors
The Bank of Thailand (BoT) on August 2 announced relief measures to ease the pressure on borrowers to repay credit card debt and make mortgage payments.
In a statement, the bank said there were vulnerable debtors who needed additional assistance because their incomes had not fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
The BoT said it would maintain the minimum payment rate for credit card users at 8% until the end of 2025, after having previously planned to raise it to 10% from the start of next year
