Fed’s Beige Book finds ‘measured’ improvement despite hurricane damage

The Federal Reserve's Beige Book, published today (November 29), found that economic activity in the US expanded at a "measured pace" in recent weeks, although sentiment was dampened in some districts by the impact of Hurricane Sandy and fears over the ‘fiscal cliff'.

Published eight times a year, the Beige Book surveys economists, businesses and market experts on their outlook regarding economic conditions in the 12 Federal Reserve districts. According to the latest survey, consumer spending
