“All things being equal”, banks will not face significantly increased capital buffer, ECB president says

Commercial banks will not face "significant" increases in their capital requirements after implementing the Basel III agreement, European Central Bank (ECB) president Mario Draghi told the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (Econ).

A "general deterioration in market sentiment" had "taken root" recently, he said, and had "gathered pace over the last week".
