IMF's Blanchard urges compromise in Greek negotiations
Chief economist urges both Greece and creditors to make 'tough choices'
With both sides in the Greek debt negotiations still failing to find common ground, IMF chief economist Olivier Blanchard appeared to offer a degree of clarity and a possible solution in a blog post on June 14.
Blanchard said both sides would have to make tough choices if a deal was to be struck, stressing a combination of additional funding and some form of debt restructuring would be necessary concessions by Greece's European creditors.
