IMF calls for further action to repair Spanish economy

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today (July 27) revealed the conclusions of the latest Article IV consultation with Spain, which welcomed the Spanish government's reforms in many areas, but said more needed to be done to cure the ailing economy.

"Government reform momentum has been strong, with many major actions initiated in recent months," the report said. The government has produced an "ambitious" plan for fiscal adjustment, made progress towards strengthening the financial sector with
